Herbert Zilinger - Kalkvogel - Grüner Veltliner - Organic wine
"Kalkvogel" is the new name of this Grüner-Veltliner, which is simply the same vineyard as "Vogelsang". With this name change, Herbert wishes to make a wider distinction among his wines, but also for the level reached. A top vineyard which has now become the mirror of many years of intensive work in biodynamic wine culture. In Herbert's words, a new level will start from 2019, the basis of the greatest possible qualities. In the Wine Advocate this wine achieved a rare score of 94/100 in 2019. This wine is at a rare height in wine culture. We only get miniscule amounts. Pressed in its entirety and allowed to ferment very slowly for one year with a thick layer of cloudy must, after which the wine was bottled unfiltered. Intense golden yellow pastel color. Tight, a little spicy and nervous. Once on the palate a flavor bomb of highly refined minerality supported by playful acidity.
