Basalte Rouge is a French wine made exclusively from gamay. The wine is made in central France by winery Desprat Saint-Verny.
The grapes for this wine grow on a hill in Gergovie and age for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels. To make sure the grapes produce wine of sufficient quality, the yield of the vineyard is kept low.
TASTING NOTES: Basalte Rouge has an intense red colour with crisp and lean aromas. On the nose you can expect hints of dark fruits, berry liquor, dark chocolate, pepper and oak. On the palate, the wine has a crisp and minty finish together with lean aromas of cherries. The wine pairs well with red meats, duch and game.
